In my group, I’m one of the few people who likes racing games. Although the racing I do is in video games and go carts since amature racing seems like an expensive hobby to me. My fondness for racing means that I’ll look for racing board games too. Rallyman is a rally racing board game designed by an actual rally driver and his love of the sport shows through in this game.

Rory’s Story Cubes Actions in review
Recently GameWright sent me a few games to take a look at which is always good news around the house. Anytime my girls can get their hands on some new games to play with the family they are all in. It’s also instant feedback as my girls are not shy if they don’t like something. [...]
Pathfinder Beginner Box in review
Long time readers are aware that I grew up playing role playing games. A lot of what I loved about rpg’s is the story and creativity they allowed me to explore and express during my formative years. I’ve touched on some of the great memories that playing dungeons & dragons allowed me to have growing up when [...]
Ascension: Chronicles of the Godslayer iOS Review
Ascension: Chronicles of the Godslayer (A:CotG) is the iOS version of the card game of the same name. For those unfamiliar A:CotG is a deck-building card game designed by three Magic: The Gathering tournament champions. Where most collectible card games, like Magic: The Gathering, require you to construct decks that you will use for the [...]
Risk Legacy asks you to ruin your game.

Loot and Scoot iOS Review
January 26th, 2012
Scoop Having never played the board game Loot and Scoot, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. All I had to go on going in was the description which included dungeons, looting, recruiting heroes, and killing monsters. That’s the kind of description that gets my attention. Read on to find out of it delivers.
Rory’s Story Cubes Actions in review
January 24th, 2012
Dan Recently GameWright sent me a few games to take a look at which is always good news around the house. Anytime my girls can get their hands on some new games to play with the family they are all in. It’s also instant feedback as my girls are not shy if they don’t like something. My kids are 7 and 8 so most of GameWright’s lineup is right in their wheel house. Of the games I received the one that looked the least like a traditional game was Rory’s Story Cubes Actions. I was a little hesitant to put this one in front of the girls because I wasn’t sure they would enjoy it. I couldn’t of been more wrong.

Dan Long time readers are aware that I grew up playing role playing games. A lot of what I loved about rpg’s is the story and creativity they allowed me to explore and express during my formative years. I’ve touched on some of the great memories that playing dungeons & dragons allowed me to have growing up when paying tribute to Gary Gygax. Somewhere along the way D&D lost me and my love for rpg’s just faded to the recesses of my mind.

Ascension: Chronicles of the Godslayer iOS Review
January 16th, 2012
Scoop Ascension: Chronicles of the Godslayer (A:CotG) is the iOS version of the card game of the same name. For those unfamiliar A:CotG is a deck-building card game designed by three Magic: The Gathering tournament champions. Where most collectible card games, like Magic: The Gathering, require you to construct decks that you will use for the game A:CotG starts both players with the same ten-card deck and tasks each player with building their own deck on the fly as the game progresses. This change in gameplay forces the player to develop their strategy based on multiple factors including card flow and observation of their opponents strategy. I’ll touch more on this after discussing the basics of the game. Read on.
Pathfinder Minatures
January 16th, 2012
Dan Over the weekend I opened a brick of these new collectible miniatures. You can view it after the jump.
A few site related items.
January 12th, 2012
Dan Hope everyone is enjoying there Thursday. We are getting our first snow storm of the season. Considering it is January 12th and it was 50 degrees yesterday I’m not complaining. The Eclipse contest is going very well, in fact we may hit my target by end of day. No worries, I am still going to give it a little time before I make the contest entry post so people have a chance to learn about the giveaway.
GameWright announces 2012 line up
January 12th, 2012
Dan One of the things I’m personally interested in are family games. Having two daughters who are now just hitting the age where we can play games beyond Candyland and Trouble is akin to an artist looking at a blank slate. GameWright had two games last year that saw a ton of play time in my house. Both Gubs and Forbidden Island are incredibly fun games.
10 Questions with Rob Daviau
January 12th, 2012
Dan I’ve been pretty caught up in Risk Legacy lately and while pondering my thoughts for last weeks post I had some questions. Luckily one of the games designers Rob Daviau took some time out to answer them for me.
Want a Free Copy of Eclipse?
January 11th, 2012
Dan Here is the deal I ended up with two copies of the very popular and extremely hard to find Eclipse. This wasn’t given to me I paid full retail for one copy and got the other for the going price online. So average it out and I paid $80 a copy. I thought about selling the other copy but since there are numerous copies being sold for $100 plus I don’t really want to do that. I thought what better way to promote the site and our new facebook page then by having a give away. Read on to find out how it works because there is one request.
A (Slightly Belated) 2011 Wrap-Up: An Individual Gamers Year in Gaming
January 10th, 2012
chris Typically all those “best of” movie, music, game, etc. lists start circulating in early December every year which I always found odd, I mean, hey, the year isn’t even over yet. So it was no surprise to me when I realized that it was already January and my perpetually behind-the-times self had missed the traditional window for year-end articles. Big deal, I grunted and groaned, I was on this whole “January plan” all along.
So here are my post-2011 thoughts about the year in gaming that was, as usual presented in the supremely convenient and ultimately lazy bullet-point format.
D&D Next on the way
January 9th, 2012
Dan The big news today is on the rpg side of the industry and it is the announcement of a new version of Dungeons and Dragons. Right now being called dndnext you can find a lot of good information by following the hash tag #dndnext. As i find related articles I’ll post below the fold. What’s funny is I spent the weekend pouring through the Pathfinder Beginer Box and will be gushing over that in a few weeks time.
The boat has landed
January 6th, 2012
Dan FFG’s next boat has landed apparently as several products are now on sale today. The latest Battles of Westeros expansion has arrived in Brotherhood Without Banners. I know at some point I will break down and get this series. Lions at the Gate is a big box expansion for the Game of Thrones LCG and then we have the Khazad-dûm expansion for the Lord of the Rings LCG. I’ve officially stopped buying these expansions as I have more of them for the LOTR game then I have played. So if anyone picks Khazad-dûm up leave a comment and let me know if it’s worth it.
